Guardian Homes

Very rarely, we have the opportunity to offer a breeding prospect puppy to a guardian home. Please read below and contact us if you'd be interested in providing one of our upcoming puppies with an amazing home! These puppies will be placed at 8 -10 weeks old.

Every dog deserves the proper attention and love, no matter if they are just a pet or breeding dogs. Once in a while we need to keep back a puppy before one of our adults is ready to retire. Because of this, we occasionally decide to place one of our prospective breeding dogs in a guardian home so that they can receive the proper attention and love they most definitely deserve, while we can still provide our older dogs the attention they deserve as well. You will be getting one of the best dogs we have to offer in exchange for your assistance throughout the breeding lifetime of the dog. Read below to find out more about this opportunity and contact us if you believe you may be a good fit for our guardian home program. The contract might sound a bit strict, but I am 100% willing to work through any issues that come up. We basically give you a puppy free of charge and we take them back as needed to breed/whelp a litter ( Initial deposit is refundable once terms are met, and we give a little bonus amount per litter for females. Time frames the dogs come back to us are: 1 week for males, 8 weeks for females). Once contract is completed, we sign over full ownership (3-4 litters for females, more for males).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Guardian must live within an hour drive of breeder's home in Wildomar, ca. (**Exceptions may be made if guardian is willing to drive to us!)

• Legal ownership of the dog (microchip #___________________) and AKC Registration remains with the breeder until the dog has produced appropriate number of litters (3-4 for females, more for males) at which time the dog will be spayed or neutered at the expense of the breeder. Full ownership of the dog will then be transferred to the guardian.

• Guardian has no right to puppies produced by male/female dog or to semen produced by the male dog.

Benefits of being a Guardian Home?

Being a guardian home for our breeding program has many perks, as well as responsibilities. We strive for a mutually beneficial relationship between ourselves and our guardian homes.

Firstly, we only require you to pay a deposit price of $500 for your puppy (which is to be returned at the completion of the guardian contract). You will receive one of the best puppies we can produce or a 'pick of the litter' puppy from another breeder from which we purchase the puppy. We look for quality genetics, personalities and looks in all the dogs we add to our breeding program.

We do provide life time support for each of these puppies as we want them to be the best they can be. Since we do require you to live within an hour drive of our home in Wildomar, Ca we extend an the offer for the dog to stay at our home when the family goes out of town and needs to have the dog boarded. This helps us, the guardian dog, and our dogs, to be familiar with one another when it comes time to breed or whelp a litter. Additionally, for those who house female dogs, they will be compensated $250 for each litter the dog has as a "thank you" for your patience while your beloved pet is away. Male dogs may be compensated as well if vet runs or runs to the breeders house are frequent for breedings or semen collections.

What would be required of you as a Guardian Home?

Since you will raise them from puppyhood, and eventually obtain full ownership, we would like for guardian homes to treat them as your own. Which essentially they are until breeding age, so anything that would apply to your own dog such as:

• Provide the dog with a safe and loving home, including but not limited to:

• Containing the dog in a fenced-in yard or on a leash

• Provide adequate exercise for the dog to prevent issues such as hip dysplasia

• Train the dog on basic commands (sit, stay, wait, etc.) or attend obedience classes

• Housebreaking

• Feeding the dog a high quality food

• Do not allow him/her to become overweight

• Keep dog socialized with dogs and people of different ages and sizes

• Keep the dog clean and well-groomed

• Provide the dog with basic veterinary care, including but not limited to:

• Yearly wellness visits and vaccines

• Any medical issues the dog may have which are NOT related to breeding

• Emergency vet costs (NOT related to breeding)

• Keeping dog on monthly, year-round preventative medications against heart-worms, fleas and ticks.

• Notify breeder immediately when the female dog has come into her estrus cycle and be prepared to meet breeder upon request when dog is needed for breeding purposes or give breeder custody for approximately a week during breeding period. If her heat is missed we may request she stay with us for a couple of months to make sure we don't miss her next cycle.

• For female breeding dogs, keep all unapproved intact male dogs away from her when she is in season. Accidents can happen to even the most careful people, so no INTACT male dogs living at home. For males, keep females who are in season away to prevent accidental breedings.

• If guardian family goes on vacation or out of town for any reason, and dog is not sent to breeder's home for duration of the vacation, contact information for kennel and/or pet-sitter should be given to breeder before guardian family departs. As well as breeder’s info given to the pet sitter in case of emergencies.

• If dog does not pass certain health tests and is deemed by breeder to be unfit to reproduce, the dog will then be spayed or neutered at the expense of the Guardian.. Guardian will not be required to pay any extra fee for the dog in this event, other than the initial deposit and neuter/spay costs.

• Guardian agrees to maintain this contract even if they relocate out of the area if they wish to keep the dog. Transportation costs back to the breeder will be at the expense of the guardian.

• Guardian agrees to keep in close contact with breeder, regularly sending photos of dog and gives clearance to breeder to use any photos sent for marketing purposes (social media, website, etc.)

• Should the dog die early of natural causes, to be determined by required necropsy, this contract shall terminate. If the dog dies while in possession of the breeder due to breeding complications (not of natural causes), dog shall be replaced with a puppy from Rose Petal Corgis' next available litter at no cost, and free of any more contract obligations.

• If at any time the breeder finds the guardian to be non-compliant, or guardian does not respond to contact attempts, the dog shall return to breeder immediately, and breeder will retain full ownership and guardian contract will be terminated. No,  I will not take back a puppy/dog if you don't respond back within an hour, but I might if it's been a week or two with multiple contact attempts without a serious reason.

• If the dog is altered OR bred purposefully without written consent of the breeder, or if guardian home cuts contact and refuses to return the dog to breeder, guardian will owe breeder a sum of $10,000. Any legal costs involved with obtaining this payment will also be paid by guardian.

• If guardian decides that they do not want to continue with the guardian contract, dog may be returned to breeder at any time for any reason and contract will be terminated. With Breeder’s consent, Guardian home may also buy the dog of out the contract by purchasing the dog outright for $2,000 after at least one successful litter. After purchase, dog must be spayed immediately at guardian’s expense, no exceptions. Please understand that we place these puppies in the hopes of continuing our program by keeping a puppy from each of our breeding dogs. So this offer is not valid until we’ve at least had the opportunity to keep a puppy back ourselves.

What would be required of us, The Breeder?

• Provide guardian with a healthy puppy.

• Pay any veterinary costs associated with breeding, including but not limited to: Progesterone testing Ultrasounds/Radiographs Necessary health testing (all genetic and OFA testing)

• Cover spay/neuter fees after completion of contract.

• Provide lifetime support for the dog.

• Board dog at our home free of charge when guardian family is out of town.

• Assist guardian with detecting and caring for a female dog in estrus cycle or pregnant.

• If guardian dog is determined that it shall be spayed or neutered before being bred, breeder will comply with health contract given with each of our puppies. If guardian dog is from another kennel, the health contract from that kennel will apply. Guardian home is responsible for covering spay/neutered costs if guardian dog was never bred.
