Health Guarantee Overview & Buyer Terms

Over the past several years, I’ve offered guarantees of varying lengths, all grounded in the same core principles. What I’ve come to realize is that the true value lies not in the length of the guarantee, but in the quality of coverage it offers. Even more importantly, it’s about the dog itself.

As breeders and pet owners, we all hope to raise healthy dogs and avoid the stress of medical issues or disputes over what is or isn’t covered. In the rare instance that one of my puppies has experienced a health issue, I have always done my best to help, regardless of whether the guarantee technically applied or was still in effect.

Each of my puppies receives a full health examination by a licensed veterinarian, a health certificate, and up-to-date vaccinations before going to their new homes. All of my breeding dogs (both male and female) are genetically screened through Embark to minimize the risk of inherited conditions.  OFA testing is done at 2 years old. If there were anything more I could do to ensure the health of my puppies, I would do it.

It’s important to understand that this guarantee is not a promise that your puppy will remain free of health problems for life. A dog’s overall health is influenced by a variety of factors like nutrition, stress, environment, genetics, and lifestyle, all of which can be unpredictable or outside my or even your control. Despite my experience, strict breeding practices, and loving care, no breeder can guarantee a perfectly healthy dog forever. This guarantee is simply intended to provide peace of mind and support in case an issue does arise.

Common health challenges that can occur during a puppy's transition to a new home include loose stools, ear infections, and common parasites. These are often caused by stress and are typically easy to treat with affordable medications. If you're not prepared to accept that minor issues may occur during this adjustment period, please consider another type of pet or seek a breeder who promises a problem-free experience, though such promises may be unrealistic.

Our puppies are raised with care and resilience, and the majority adjust exceptionally well to their new homes.

📄 Full Health Guarantee & Terms

Below is a summary of important terms, along with a written copy of the full health guarantee that will be provided at the time of puppy pickup or delivery. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions. I’m here to help.

Holding Fee

A non-refundable holding fee is required to reserve a puppy. Holding fees are deducted from puppy's full price. This fee:

  • Guarantees your purchase from the breeder.
  • Is non-refundable unless puppy is not available due to life threatening illness or death.
  • Is transferable to a future litter within a one-year timeframe, though  availability of any future litters are not guaranteed.

The remaining puppy balance is due before the puppy is shipped, delivered, or picked up. Accepted payment methods:

  • In-person pickup: Cash, Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay.

  • Shipping or delivery: Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay, to be paid at least 7 days prior to departure.

✈️ Shipping & Delivery

All shipping and/or transportation expenses are solely the buyer’s responsibility.

🏡 Boarding Policy

If the buyer requests that the breeder hold a puppy beyond 9 weeks of age:

  • The full remaining balance must be paid by 9 weeks of age.

  • A boarding fee of $8 per day will apply, payable at pickup.

  • Puppies will be held no later than 12 weeks of age, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • During this time, the breeder will cover food and daily care; buyer is responsible for any additional vaccine costs.

⚠️ No refunds will be issued if the buyer fails to pick up the puppy by 12 weeks of age without a signed agreement from the breeder.

📝 Documentation Provided

Upon delivery of your puppy, the following documents will be provided:

  • AKC Registration Application:
    • Limited registration (for pet homes) or full registration (for breeding/show homes), as applicable.

  • Health Records:
    • Includes vaccinations, dewormers, and any other medications given.
    • Next scheduled vaccine date will be noted on the health guarantee.
    • A copy of the veterinarian’s exam, including Vet's name, address, and contact information, will also be provided.
